Homeless Conversations

*photo taken on my way to the Inner Harbor, Baltimore City, Maryland, July 9, 2008. The lady in the red sweater, despite the 86 degree weather and high humidity, was engaged in a very lively conversation with someone or something. Beneath the picture are my thoughts on the scene.*

What has God said to you,
to have you so animated this morning?
Your words float on the city air like
rockets, blaring and blazing and
whizzing on by.

Fellow villagers, each in their own
state of disrepair, unknowing of your
battle of language as you fight it out
with who, I cannot see.

And as I pass, I wonder -
why has God forsaken you,
leaving you to sit on the bench,
no roof over your head, no table
for your dinner?

My wondering mind speeds on by
as you fade behind the rearview mirror
and by the time I take the next turn
you're gone, but not forgotten and I wonder -

Are you still sitting there
talking to God?

Very thought provoking thoughts on life's observations. This is a nice step out of your fantasy box. ;) Well done!
