How soundly you douse your sunny smile And sweetly your eyelids glint for starry miles By the hour you will hum the winds song And silently by your crib I watch along
By midnight youre in your little Eden; A stony white stillness glows so peaceful then And I wonder if you will dream quiet Of yellows and blues and greens and violets
Or perhaps there will be standing there A person to hold you and stroke your soft hair; Though Ive never touched your skin so pure Or seen your eyes with a love so sure
Should slowly you take my finger so And declare me giver of your stroke and hold With full heart and love Ill answer you And wish-songs will be hushed and be true

Very musical and tender. But you always seem to express such tenderness in your writing, something I've always admired and respected.
This one really does read off as a lullaby and that is just delightful! There is an inner composer in you and I know you're going to walk that path one day soon.
Kudos, my friend, two for two you are on a roll! :)

Aw, thanks Poe! It really means a lot to me for you to comment on this poem. It's a very personal one for me. Basically I began thinking about the fact that it's most likely I won't be able to have my own child... I know that there's adoption and surrogacy and whatnot, and that I shouldn't be thinking about this until a bit later in the future, but it was on my mind. And that's how this poem came about.
Whew...anyways, I appreciate your reply. It really means a lot to me. :)
