Oh, I got some great news yesterday. My band director and his wife are going to have their first child! :) He was so funny about it to, just grinning and glowing like nothing else! It was so sweet and cute. :D

Ok, I'm sure you're all getting tired of this...but...
I found some more Whitacreness...hehe...
This is from identitytheory.com's Random Truths About...Eric Whitacre. Basically it's a list of questions Eric has been asked. Here they are (I think some of the answers are priceless!). :D
1. What's the first piece of music you listened to today? The sound of my one-year old son 'singing' me awake. 5:15 a.m.
2. What are your vices? I can't say that I really believe in 'vices.' I do have a 'weakness' for food.
3. What is one of your prejudices? Hmmm... I guess against contemporary classical, academic music. I'm generally convinced that it's going to sound awful before I ever hear a note.
4. In what way do you think music has the ability to change the way people live their lives? In every way. Music is at the core of that which makes us human.
5. At what age did you first feel distrust? When I finally understood what actually happens when you sign a publishing contract.
6. Do you think that your name is appropriate for you? (If not, what name would be more appropriate?) I like my name, and it feels right. But my entire life people have mistakenly called me 'Chris.' Isn't that strange?
7. What is the best piece of music you've ever created, in your opinion? Oh, god. For me, this answer changes every ten minutes. There are, though, 4 measures of music in my "A Boy and a Girl" that I think are just perfect.
8. Right now, how are you trying to change yourself? Heh... trying to get more sleep.
9. If you had the time, what else would you do? I would really study Hebrew (my wife is Israeli). And I would have a garden.
10. What social cause do you feel the most strongly about (negative or positive)? Well, I'm a raging liberal, so one can probably infer a pretty accurate list of social causes that I am passionate about. First and foremost, though, I'm a professional artist, and more and more I feel like I should keep my causes to myself and just try to create beautiful things.
11. What are your fears? That the American people will sleepwalk through the next election and allow those imperial criminals to keep running the... oops, please see #10.
12. What is your favorite joke (tasteful or tasteless)? An old man comes home from work one day, and his surprised wife says, "What are you doing home so early? It's not even noon." The man says, "They fired me from the factory, because I put my finger in the pickle slicer." His wife cries, "Oh my god! I hope you're alright! And what happened to the pickle slicer?" And he says, "Well, they fired her too."
13. Who is your favorite author? Impossible... the list is a mile long. My desert-island author? Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
14. What is your favorite movie? Again, there are thousands. But my one desert island movie would be The Godfather. (Can I count I & II as one movie?)
15. Favorite album(s) from the last few years? Love, love, LOVE the Sufjan Stevens album Illinois. Love the LA Phil doing the "Rite of Spring." Love Bjork's Vespertine.
16. What would you like to know more about? EVERYTHING.
17. What is one thing you would like to do/see/accomplish before you die? Who said anything about dying? I'm going to live forever!
Cheers all! :D

I think we all have our own obsessions. And now we know he's a raging liberal with a love for food and sexual jokes...lol...(hmm, that's pretty much a typical man, no?)
Ok, ok, so it's not that bad. :)

I am waiting for your explosion.. it's long overdue, you know. With the dropping temps, misted frosts and all that beautiful winter loveliness I'd think you'd have much to write about.
Now, me on the other hand, I'm sweltering away. The cold that was sitting above us has disappeared and that awful hot air is back *pout* ... My mind is melting, no poetry yet....

sally, whatever am I going to do with you and leaving yourself logged on like that?!? geesh!
I have a new song that I fell in love with (Thank you Kuti!!) and I hope to construct a poem from it very soon. Now, I must find the Queen of Opera and all things Classical and make her write one as well!
Sally,it's great to see you writing and posting, thank you so much for doing so.

Haha!!! I am eagerly waiting for the other tracks to come out! And Poe, I only have one thing to say...Libertas Imperios! :) I want to see Paradise Lost sooooo badly!!! And Bandanna too. :) By the way, Paradise Lost is an opera/musical composed by Eric Whitacre (no surprises there). It's so cool because it's not your typical opera. It's a mix of classical and techno/electronica. :D And I believe I already mentioned Bandanna, so no need to explain myself again! Haha. Seriously though, I haven't seen an opera in years! It's time to catch up!
And now it's time for a baby update!
As I have mentioned, my band director and his wife are having their first child (a girl). Well, now the dates have changed slightly. The baby is estimated to be due between April 17th and April 27th. No names have been picked out yet - as my band director says, they still have a long list to choose from. :)
Hope everyone is doing well, and had a wonderful holiday and New Year! :)

Oh, by the way, if you want to hear Libertas Imperios (the song Poe was mentioning), you can either go to www.myspace.com/ericwhitacre or you can pm me and I'll send it to you. :)

I want to try to get this ball rolling - again. So let's see what we can all do to try to spice it up. Also, I'm thinking of doing a total make over and changing some boards and whatnot...
Happy Writing, ~Poe

Here it is, Thursday, end of the week approaching and I can't wait!
Ok ladies, we all need to see what we can do to get some action going on. Tell your friends, have your friends tell friends (the good sort, let's leave the riff raff outside the door) and try again.
I have an exciting weekend ahead of me... Well, exciting in my terms, that is!
Saturday we are going to the Citrus Bowl for the Monster Jam - Monster Truck Show. I know big trucks aren't everyone's liking, but I have always loved them. And the funny thing is.. When I was young, I used to watch some of these same monster trucks! But never got to see them live. Now, at umm some years into adulthood later *coughcough* I get to!! photo of one of my favorite trucks from when I was 13 and still today...
Dreamstress and Kuti - I want new poetry... PRONTO! *wink, smile, wink*
Smiles, ~Poe

See, I do much better writing a poem when I listen to music without words. Haha, yes it was about time!!! I was getting so anxious, and when I found this last night *ahhhhhh*. :) As for getting the sheet music, I would be so happy and just...wow...lol. I would love to have it! :)

Oh yeah!! The monster truck show was awesome! Seeing those big trucks up close and personal, hearing those engines run and watching them smash cars and vans to flat pieces of scrap metal.. Whooo Wheee great! :)

Am totally re-addicted to Monster Trucks. Funny how you can love something as a kid, lose track of it and then by chance rediscover it. Its a great feeling.

And just where is it, Sally???? Come on, stop holding out on us!
Gabe is having a sleep over tonight and I am so not looking forward to it. i barely have enough patience for my OWN children (tho' I love them to bits) let alone 3 children who are not mine!
Must go out this morning to get cake and ice cream and bike and playstation game, then after work pick up pizza and feed the beasts, I mean kids!
Hope everyone has a gorgeous Friday and Happy Weekend Eve to you all!
I'm going to try to post a couple of writes this weekend in my spare time (hahah, that's funny!)
Happy Writing, ~Poe
