In secrecy they fled the world Leaving trails of life behind; Running into the violet twilight They ran, hoping to find
A cluster of protection where They, two, could live in peace And beneath a perfect moon they'd Be allowed to let love increase
Between their fragile beating hearts Where they'd been in a world so cruel Every where the shadows descended Driving them apart with woes.
One day he stood up straight And took her pale, fine hand "Love, weve got to get away from here Go where love can take a stand."
But, her heart was shaking and fear Had made her so very cold; "There is nowhere on this green earth for two lovers like us to go."
A sigh had caused the world to spin As a great and terrible ache Filled his chest, and he fell to his knees Within the twilight's opaque
Light, and he buried his head there In the folds of her silken robes "Love, you are the light of day and everything Ive come to know:
"You cant say that there is no path that you and I may run; Our love is true, and our love is pure Please dont let it come undone."
A tear slipped down his lovely cheek And she thought that she would die. She laid her head then, upon his back And together, two lovers cried.
In the hush of twilights gentle cloak They held on for all their worth There may not be a single place Upon God's great green earth
For them to run and them to hide But two lovers knew that for sure; They'd brave the shadows of the unknown For their love was true. Their love was pure.
I second that statement... So beautiful! And the picture matches the poem so well. :)
