One moment in a lingering touch And all your words whisper like Past dreams floating on a billowing wind And I am immortalized in a simple smile That you gave in passing.
In the glare of bright city lights I think How do you do what you do? When all I am is a little girl pretending To be a woman in a mans world- With all my buttons undone as I Stand here, vulnerable, before you.
Truth falls like breaking bricks And I am forced to open my eyes And swallow life, dry and far too wide For this throat to take down:
You walk on by and she joins you While I am left on the sidewalk of shame And regret and lost possibilities and I wonder How it would have tasted to sip you from the Cup of love and feel you beneath the sheets Of desire.
If I had known moments ago, when that touch Was still warm and lingering That you were taken Would I have fallen, would I have landed? Or is it all the same?
I walk on by trying to erase you from This mind.

Wow, a touch of everything here I must say (we have love, and we have a twist of darkness and "the other"). An interesting write on this Valentine's Day. I very much enjoyed it though. Very very much so indeed.

Thank you and I am so happy you liked this. You know I always appreciate your feedback. It felt good to write a bit with more depth, I've dried up lately and am trying to get my groove going once more.
There is one line in here that is a tad clichéd "sheets of desire" but - me being me - I never rewrite, so it'll end up staying.
Again, thank you and I hope to see a new post of yours soon!
