An old short story I found...I didn't give it a title I don't think

She laid on the sand, looking over the horizon of the beach. The full moon shone over her head, and made the water shimmer and glow. The water hissed softly as the tide pushed along the sand and retreated. There was a warm southern wind that passed along her long black hair. She sighed as she closed her deep blue eyes. Her mind floated somewhere between imagination and dreams. She was transfixed in a world unseen, but felt. Oh how she felt it. She grinned, for she felt safe at last. Here she wasnt scorned for her thoughts, nor was she condemned to rules or social tribulations.
Moira. a soft mellow voice said to her.
Yes David my love? she mumbled.
She could feel his breath against her neck, slowly inhaling and exhaling.
You can open your eyes. he laughed.
Id rather not.
Why?
It would ruin the moment. She said, as she breathed in deeply. The smell of his hair filled her nostrils; it was as if a distant dream has returned to her.
I see. he said.
Moira felt a pair of strong hands massage her shoulders. Relaxation flowed throughout her body as well as happiness.
MmmmIve forgotten how great you made me feel. she sighed.
I love you too. David replied.
I thought you were dead, youve been gone for so long.
No prison can hold me, you know that. he chuckled proudly.
No, of course not. Moira grinned. But her smile faded away as she thought about his past, about what he did.
All of those people you killed when you burned that apartment building down she muttered under her breath.
The past was the past. It was a mistake, I know.
And I still loved you, because of how you made me feel. You knew I was special so you treated me like no other. You always respected me, made me happy. I never knew what happened until the cops came. To tell the truth, I really didnt care. I just wanted you home, even though I was pissed at first. I
Yes my Moira?
You didnt know how much I cried when you were gone. It was lonely, and I was lonely.
David made a hushing noise with his lips.
There now, its ok. We can move on now.
You really dont know how much I would like that. Moira could feel tears of joy building up in her eyes. Quickly she turned her head and readied to give David a kiss. It was a kiss built up with many years of separation and emptiness, a kiss of longing and waiting. But as she came close and kissed she kissed nothing but air. She opened her eyes.
And there she was, lying on the sand of the beach. Once again her heart was empty. It was ripped in two too many times that now it was just numb. She rolled on her belly and with her long slender finger drew an image of a heart on the sand.
With a saddened smile, she slowly stood up and brushed the sand off of her clothes. As she was walking away the waves rolled along the beach, erasing the etched heart into infinity.
